Yesterday, I attended the 1st Annual Little Miss Washington Pageant. Little girls from all over the state came to show off their talent and speaking skills, there were several girls from Moses Lake in it, one of them was our good friend Alyssa Mathews. Alyssa did such a great job!
One of the judges had not shown up, so I was asked to judge! I was so excited, but that only lasted a minute, because in she walks! Oh well, maybe next time!

Kids fish-In
This morning I helped at the registration table for the annual "Kids fish-In" sponsored by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.
This program offers an opportunity for a first time angler youth 5-14 years of age a chance to learn about fishing hands on. The kids are given 45 minutes to catch a fish and almost everyone does! There are 5 different sessions throughout the day and the morning one that I helped at had over 100 kids show up!

Whew! Time to Breathe!
The Miss Washington Outstanding Teen pageant has come and gone! It was a crazy weekend, but SO much FUN! We got to Renton on Friday and went straight to the IKEA Performing Arts Center to check in our wardrobe and practice. More practice Saturday morning and then the first night of the BIG event! I had lots of family show up to support me and on Sunday lots of friends showed up for the second night! All of the girls (all 20 of them) were SO nice and supportive of each other, it felt like a big party! I made a lot of new friends that I hope to keep in touch with and will hopefully see throughout the coming months at different events!
The weekend was full of luncheons and visitations and interviews, so we were all kept running and busy! Which is a good thing since it doesn't give you much time to think about judges and stages and performing!
I was very excited to be put in the Top 10 and then the Top 5 and then 4th Runner Up! It was more than I expected and I am so happy! Victoria Renard will make an excellent Miss Washington Outstanding Teen and she will make us all proud!

May!
A few exciting things have happened this month...I turned 15!! I was on the radio and I spoke at Rotary!
I am so excited to be 15 and can now start Driver's Ed, which means my license in ONE year!
I was on the local radio the other morning with Butch Bare and was able to talk about the upcoming Miss WA Outstanding Teen event that is coming up on Memorial Day weekend and also my platform, which is Community Awareness of ALS. It was exciting because I didn't know what to expect! I sat in a small room with the radio announcer and three other people that were there to talk about things that are going on in Moses Lake over the weekend for Springfest, it was a little crowded but fun. They let me go first and then I was able to get back to school, which is a good thing since I gave a "shout out" to my class that I was missing at that moment!

The next day I was given the opportunity to speak at Rotary. I talked about how happy and honored I am to be Miss Moses Lake's Outstanding Teen and able to be a representative for the community. I also talked about why my platform is so important to me and close to my heart and asked that anyone who would like to support me or join me in the ALS walk in honor of my Aunt Betty this coming September to let me know! I was very nervous to do this and I did talk too fast, but I know it is very good practice and I am glad they were such a nice crowd and didn't ask scary questions! Also, I am very glad that my best friend is the School Superintendent's son, because his mom was there and she didn't mind me missing some school for this...I hope!

The Fun Continues!
The Opening Day Parade for baseball was chilly but fun! Lots of trucks decorated with team names and filled with crazy kids. Heidi, Susan, Brittney and I rode in a couple of trucks up front with our "Little Sisters". Once at the baseball field, we got to announce all the teams!
